National Essay Competition For Nysc

The competition was conceived as part of the activities to commemorate the birthday of His Excellency General Yakubu Gowon former Head of State of the Federal Republic of Nigeria who is the Patron of the Foundation.

Owing to his quest for national unity and peaceful coexistence, the topic for the essay was “Harnessing our diversity and strength for National Development”

It was aimed at keeping the mandate of upholding worth values and legacies of leadership in the nation and to help in the reorientation of writers and readers as well as fostering peace, unity and selfless service to humanity in addition to providing an avenue for writers to make suggestions for the development of the nation in spite of its diversity.

Prizes were awarded to seven best contestants with the overall best carting away monetary reward of Three Hundred Thousand Naira (N300,000.00), the second best received Two Hundred Thousand Naira (N200,000.00), while the third best collected the sum of One Hundred Thousand Naira (N100,000.00). Consolation prizes of fifty thousand Naira (N50,000.00) each was given to seven (7) contestants.

The project was carried out with the collaboration of National Orientation Agency (NOA) and National Youth Service Corps (NYSC).
